Dr. Lynn Gehl of Nogojiwanong/Peterborough will be honoured on Parliament Hill in Ottawa April 17 — Equality Day — as part of the “Famous Six”, Canada’s Senate has announced. The event will raise awareness and celebrate Indigenous women’s leaders’ relentless work in the quest for equality for Indigenous peoples.
The Famous Six are: Jeannette Corbiere-Lavell; Ms. Yvonne Bedard; Senator Sandra Lovelace Nicholas; Dr. Sharon McIvor; Dr. Lynn Gehl; and Senator Lillian Dyck.
The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Aboriginal Committee Room, 160-S in the Centre Block. More details to follow.
